The forest contains some of the largest gum trees in Australia and this one called The Big Tree (how original) is a mammoth among giants, estimated to weigh over 400 tonnes. It was a disappointment to find out, when we reached the Big Tree, that the viewing platform was closed for maintenance. In the earlier days it was possible to walk around the tree but it is now banned!!! |
